Anthony Tate, a long-time entrepreneur, began his career in business as a Revenue Audit Analyst at FedEx in 1983. During his tenure there, he noticed many workers in his department were temporary, not FedEx staff employees.
He made inquiries about the ongoing relationships FedEx had with the staffing firms that provided temporary employees. He realized that the staffing industry was setting new record-high employment figures. Tate worked 16-hour days at FedEx to raise the necessary capital to launch his new business, APS-Advance Personnel Services, Inc. He later resigned his position to dedicate himself fully to the new venture.
Tate, and his company, APS-Advance Personnel Service have received prestigious awards for Outstanding Service from numerous organizations. He garnered considerable media attention about his unique organization and management style at the thriving company.
APS-Advance Personnel Service launched a second operation in St. Louis, and sourced services to the City of St. Louis, and numerous firms in the Missouri area. APS-Advance Personnel Service had more than 700 employees and a database of about 1,500 potential employees.
In 1997, Tate sold APS-Advance Personnel Service to an international corporation, and took a position there as a Senior Vice President.
Three years later, he decided to begin a new venture, Ashaun Company, which has been in business for more than 15 years, providing Call Center/Business support, along with Staffing and Technology Communication products.
Tate was one of the founders of Memphis First Community Bank, (now Landmark Community Bank), where he sat on the board of directors for several years.
Active in the community, he has served on the board of Regional One Health, is a former member of The Memphis Rotary Club (Downtown), and is a graduate of Leadership Memphis.
