The O.C. Pleasant Jr. Operations Center

In February, 2019 the election operation center was renamed the "O.C. Pleasant Jr. Election Operations Center.  Pleasant was the longest serving election commissioner in SCEC’s history.

Pleasant began serving on the commission in 1979 and was a cornerstone of the commission for 30 years. He served as chairman of the Election Commission for 24 years and left the commission in 2009.

Following Pleasant’s death on Dec. 9, 2018, County Commissioner Willie Brooks decided to spearhead an effort to get the name of the Operations Center on Nixon Drive dedicated to Pleasant. The SCEC passed a resolution supporting the naming of the ops center after former Chairman Pleasant.
